Against street noise or loud neighbours you need heavy, dense materials (plasterboard, loaded vinyl, composite panels) or structural measures such as acoustic windows. Acoustic panels only improve sound quality within the room.
How long do acoustic panels last and how do I care for them?
Basotect and mineral wool last five to ten years without loss of quality. PET felt and wood-fibre panels five to eight years. Care: vacuum once a year (brush attachment, low setting). Basotect yellows after around two years in direct sunlight, but acoustic performance remains intact. No damp cleaning on foam materials.
